MY RIDES BETTER THEN YOURS!

Today I want to take a few minutes to make a serious complaint. Ok I’m here in the sandbox with everyone. Yes there is a lot of money now for over here. But it has gotten out of control. My company chooses to be cheap and use Military vehicles to save money. This is the right thing to do. But other companies, contractors, and soldiers (mainly high ranking officers) are abusing the system. They are getting these leased vehicles which are running 21,000-28,000 a year! You could actually buy a new vehicle for that much. They say its is for the service and insurance. Ok here we go. If you buy a new vehicle here in IRAQ say for the cost above and drive it and wreck it what are you out? I mean let us be honest. Services for the whole year might cost you 1500.00 at a max. Just change the Oil and keep it going. There is no reason a new vehicle should break down in the first year. I see this as a huge waste. And seeing what they are driving makes me even sicker. Vehicles normally not used in the states as much due to the cost, like H2O’s…. Give me a break! You won’t drive a military HMMV but you will drive the civilian version, which cost 2X more! Then we got the guys rolling in Excursions, F250-350 quad-cabs. Come on people! We have 1-2 guys rolling in these huge gas guzzlers hauling what? 2 bodies! That’s it! I can’t believe how much money is being wasted. And all I hear is well we got 81 billion dollars or whatever it was. That money should not be wasted on all this. We are in a combat zone. And its really killing me seeing these officers rolling around in these vehicles. If you’re a soldier you should be in a military vehicle doing your mission. I see no reason why all these vehicles are being used. It is a complete waste of tax payer’s money. Right now I’m feeling like I am the good guy, because I am driving that HMMV, but in a few months when it hits 130-140 outside, I’ll be wishing I was in once of those leased vehicles with Air Conditioning!

Road Rage in Baghdad

Ok, here the roads are very small, just enough room for 2 HMMVS to pass each other. I just can’t stand it when I’m driving and a little friggin Datsun is taking up the whole road, while my tires are rubbing on the curb and he is 3 inches from hitting me. I really wish I had some future vehicle parts that would go out and key those darn jerks. Oh and the soldiers that drive by yelling to slow down as you are going 10mph in a 15mph and they are going by you at 30-40mph. They yell at you to slow down because you look to be going fast when it is there vehicle that is speeding down the road. I just want to jump out and choke them. The guys in the passenger seat don’t even notice that they are doing mach 10! Of course I can never be happy, they are either going too fast or too slow. I have wanted to choke myself several times as I followed a vehicle that stopped every time a vehicle passed them. If you can not drive, DON’T DO IT! Let someone else do it. This is not the place to learn to drive! Then my last rant is on the Kevlar Helmets. Ok you can drive any vehicle but a HMMV without Kevlar on. You can walk around anywhere without it on, but you have to wear it in a HMMV. Why, they say safety but if it was safety why is everyone not wearing Kevlar in all vehicles? What is a Kevlar going to do for you that it wouldn’t do for you in any vehicle? Just doesn’t make sense. Another example of bringing rules from Conus to here: On post in states you don’t wear Kevlar unless you go across the cattle-guard. That means your going into an aggressive area. Here we are across the cattle-guard all the time I guess, but so are all the other vehicles…. Oh well!!!!

I'm Melting!

News Flash! It's raining! Not real rain, oh no! It's raining mud. Gotta love it over here. Just when its hot as hell it starts to rain. Normally you would be happy but not here. First it rains mud because of the dust in the air, then it goes away and gets super hot. Lets see, early in the morning under shade its a cool 80. By Noon its 95-100. Now add this nice humidity from the rain and your like eeeeeeewwwwwww. Then you get to walk in the clay, yes it is clay now. Add the Dirt/Mud/Clay to your clothes, your floor, and everything else. Man is it nasty. Gotta hate the rain here. Well, I guess it could be worse!

Don't you hate it when this happens?

We'll here is a new one. I'm opening up my email and I get a message from the wife. Something on the lines of this: Babe, house is flooded spending next 3 days with my mom and dad. Love...

Ok, RANT ON! How the heck are you gonna send someone a billion miles away without the ability to get ahold of you an email like this...... All this does is rile the person up! I mean what happened. Did a pipe break, sewage backup.... You have no idea what is going on. RANT OFF.

Anyways talked with the wife after the email. Informed that was some issues, and that lots of negative cosmetic changes happened to bathroom at our expense. Ha, just another day! (Even with this kind of email though,,,, its funny I just can't wait to see her)
